Competition terms and conditions

  1. The landscape-format images must have been created between 15.10.2011 and 31.07.2012.
  2. By taking part in the competition, the photographer guarantees that he/she is the originator of the works submitted and the exclusive owner of the usage rights. By taking part, each participant guarantees explicitly to have observed all rights of third parties, especially the privacy rights of the photographed individuals.
  3. Each participant may submit up to five colour photos in each category. The category in which the image is to compete must be indicated.
  4. Each participant must send their competition entry photos as original files (no conversion using photo editing software). The photos must be RAW files or original JPGs (12 level) in the original camera resolution (at least 300dpi). Retouched photos or montages will not be accepted.
In addition to sending the original camera files, which are necessary to enter the uvex Sport Photo Competition 2012, you may also send us your favourite highlight or an edited photo as a JPG file.
  5. The file names of the photos should be as follows: PhotographerNumber.jpg (e.g. joebloggs01.jpg, joebloggs02.jpg etc.). The following should also be specified in the email: occasion/event, title of photo, date taken. Works submitted will not be returned.
  6. uvex obtains usage rights for the 12 prize-winning photos only. The usage rights are granted on a non-exclusive basis, i.e. the photographer remains the owner of the secondary usage rights and can use the photos for other purposes. uvex’s usage rights are unrestricted to time or place and include all usage purposes which were known when the photos were submitted, in particular usage for internal and external communication projects. In particular, uvex has the right to use prize-winning photos for the annual uvex calendar and for a photography exhibition. The usage rights for these images are ceded to uvex with the payment of the prize money; participants have no right to a further fee. uvex does not have the right to sublicence or pass on the ceded rights of use. Usage by other companies of the uvex group is permitted. The photographer waives his/her right to be identified as the originator.
  7. The decision of the jury is final and incontestable. Recourse to legal action is excluded.
  8. Participation in the uvex photo competition is subject to acceptance of the above conditions. Participants must be aged 18 and over.

*)    The jury reserves the right to partially or completely withhold prize money for submitted photos in a particular category. In this case, additional prize money will be awarded in a corresponding amount and to a corresponding number of photos in a different category. If there are insufficient photos that meet the photo requirements and competition terms and conditions in a category, the jury may correspondingly reduce the number of photos that receive prizes. In this case, an additional cash prize in a different category may not be given.
