uvex international sports photo competition 2010

uvex will be staging an international sports photo competition for the first time in 2010 and will offer a total of EUR 16,000 in prize money.  

The company will be looking for the most exciting, emotionally-charged and unusual images of uvex athletes in the following four categories:

  • Winter sports
  • Cycling
  • Horse Riding
  • Motorbike sports
  • Carracing


The best 15 works will be presented at the end of 2010 in an exhibition and the top 12 in the form of the 2011 uvex calendar.

Prizes:
A 1st (EUR 1,500), 2nd (EUR 1,000) and 3rd (EUR 500) prize will be awarded in each category. The overall winner will receive an additional EUR 1,000 and their photo will appear on the front cover of the 2011 uvex calendar.

Photo guidelines:
The panel of judges will only accept landscape format images taken between 1st December 2009 and 31st July 2010 on which the uvex logo is completely visible. Possible entries include action, celebration and other feature motifs. Photos must be submitted by 1st August 2010.

The panel of judges:
A panel comprised of an athlete, a sports journalist and uvex’s management will decide the winners in September.

Entry conditions
1. The images must have been created between 1.12.2009 and 31.7.2010.
2. By taking part the photographer guarantees that they are the author of the works submitted and the owner of the rights of use.
Each participant guarantees explicitly with their participation to have observed all rights of third parties, especially privacy laws of
the people photographed.
3. Each participant may submit up to five colour photos in each category. The category in which the image is to compete must be indicated on the reverse.
4. The sides of the photo must be a maximum of 40 cm and a minimum of 30 cm in length. Only paper prints will be accepted.
5. Participants must also submit their photos on CD in high resolution (image format: jpg/resolution 300dpi with a minimum side length of 40 cm, jpg level 10). The file names of the photos should be as follows: PhotographerNumber.jpg (e.g. joebloggs01.jpg, joebloggs02.jpg etc.). The file name should be noted on the reverse of the corresponding photo. Please note the following in the file information: photographer, event/meeting, title of photo, date taken and maybe the name of the athlete. Works submitted will not be returned.
6. uvex gets only for the 15 prize-winning photos usage rights. The usage rights are not granted exclusively to uvex, that means the photographer stays owner of the secondary usage rights and can use the photos for other purposes. The usage rights are unlimited in relation to place and time und include all usage purposes, which have been known by the transmittal of the photos, in particular a usage for internal and external communication projects. The usage rights for these images are ceded to uvex with the payment of the prize money; participants have no right to a further fee. uvex does not have the right to sublicence or pass on the ceded rights of use. A usage by other companies of the uvex group is allowed.
7. The decision of the panel is final and incontestable. Recourse to legal action is excluded.
8. Participation in the uvex photo competition is subject to acceptance of the above conditions.
